Rich Posson: Background and Experience

Richard F. Posson (Rich) has owned and run Ag Financial Strategies, a commodity brokerage and advising firm, since 1999.  He advises producers, farmers, and investors on the commodity markets and publishes a newsletter. Rich has a Series 3 registration and is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT).  He writes for Consensus, Successful Farming, and Ag-Online, and has given interviews for the print and radio media.  Rich was raised on a dairy farm and has a degree in agricultural science from Morrisville College in Morrisville, New York.  Prior to owning his own commodity business, Rich was the manager of a 400 cow dairy in upstate New York, owned his own dairy farm, and worked as a grain merchandiser.  Rich has over twenty years of experience in market analysis and enjoys the challenge of helping his customers reduce risk and improve profits.  In his spare time Rich enjoys fishing and camping and spending time with his family.

Rich was perhaps the first analyst to forecast record high corn prices from 2004 to 2008-- based upon a price model he created in 1993!  Rich's work shows that price fluctuations are trend based and cyclically related to the behavior of traders, investors and businesses.  He believes that price is the best indicator of demand but understands the importance of integrating technical, fundamental and economic factors into his work.  Using these concepts Rich has created models that integrate long and short term price trends to assist speculators and price risk managers with market timing.  Rich correctly forecast the late 1990's commodity bear market, the 2000 to 2002 stock bear market, and the the major commodity bull market of this decade.
